Quad City Challenger II construction.

The Quad City Challenger II uses aluminum tube, bolt and rivet together construction.

The airframe uses 6061-T6, 2024-T3 aluminum, 4130 Chromoly steel, and stainless steel pop rivets, with all hardware AN/Mil spec. Covering for wings, fuselage and tail section is SuperFlite.

The fuselages comes factory built, with all of the control systems installed and is ready for covering. The wing frames are pre-built in factory jigs. The customer only has to install the ribs, cover and finish.

All necessary components are supplied for complete engine installation, which with wiring will normally take between 15 and 20 hours.

No special tools are required to build the Challenger II, but an air riveter, compressor, iron, and a good set of scissors are recommended.

The step by step assembly manual will take even the novice builder from kit to flying  in 100 to 300 hours depending on whether the kit uses dacron sail cloth or standard aircraft covering materials.

The factory support for new kit builders is excellent, and a number of builders sites are on the web for additional assistance.
