The also had on display their Sportlite 103 which is a craft that can be ordered in kit form and just assembled. Purchased as a materials kit, where the customer has to bend all of the parts. Or it can be built by the customer from a set of plans. When a customer buys a set of plans they get a complete set of engineering drawings, showing every part on the plane and where it goes. Also supplied is a set of 1 to 1 drawing templates which means the customer can place the finished part directly on the template to check accuracy. The third thing supplied is a computer CD which has 3 dimensional models of parts with parts numbers. The CD which shows where and how the part fits on the plane. It also allows you to zoom in and out, and rotate etc. The quick build kit will take about 40 hours to complete. A plans built kit will take between 200 and 300 hours. With the 447 Rotax engine and 2.58 to 1 redrive the Sportlite 103 will take off in a couple of hundred feet, cruise all day long at 50 mph and climb out with a 250 lbs pilot at 600 feet per minute. At Airventure 2006 Freebird introduced a float mounting system to allow a number of float systems including the Full Lotus float system to be mounted to the Sportlite 103. The Sportlite 103 has been in production since 1992, and Freebird Innovations has been producing them for the last four years. |
