The S-18 was designed from the ground up to be a two place tandem light sport aircraft trainer. It has dual rudder controls front and rear, with center mounted sticks and left hand throttles. The engine is located in a pusher configuration, mounted right side up above the wing. |
It features a bolt and rivet together construction with building times reported in the 100 to 150 hour range. The kit is one of the most complete on the market with many features that would normally be options, standard equipment. Some of the standard features on the Rans S18 Stinger include steerable full swivel tail wheel, elevator trim tab, folding tail, main fuel shut-off valve, folding jury struts, 4 position flaps, 3-blade Ivo propeller, Dual CHT, Dual EGT, Digital rpm/hour meter, 9-gallon fuel tank, quick disconnect fuel lines, nose pod, 5" drum brakes, Tundra tires, aluminum wheels, adjustable seats, 4 point hooker harness. |
