Excalibur light sport aircraft.

Tom Karr manufacturer of the Excalibur two place light sport aircraft dropped into the Sun N Fun with his latest wide body model.

The unit can be ordered at no extra cost and gives the pilot and passenger an extra two inches in width which makes it ideal for larger pilots.

Other changes to the Excalibur for 2006 include shortening the ailerons from 12 feet to 6 feet for better performance.

This also allows for the installation of optional 6 foot flaps which can be used in short field applications, or for additional lift for float plane operation. The Excalibur is also now available with the optional Rotax 582 with the standard Rotax twin radiator system.

The Excalibur comes standard with Rotax 503, GPL electric starter, and Rotax 2.58 to 1 B reduction drive. Options include the Rotax C and E drive.

For pilots wanting a digital instrument package Excalibur is now offering the Stratomaster instrument package. This package is available for the complete line of Rotax, Hirth, and HKS engines.

Some of the instruments on the Stratomaster include air speed, altimeter, artificial horizon, vertical speed, EGT, CHT, Water temp, and fuel gauge. The unit is supplied with all necessary probes.

The 2006 model Excalibur's feature a number of cosmetic changes. These include rounded tail fins versus the squared tail used in the past, and the addition of aluminum side plates in the area where the nose cone and body fabric join together for a more streamlined look.

Airframe changes include going from 6 Barry motor mounts to 8 Lord mounts, this  virtually eliminates engine vibration and provides increased thrust. Additional strength has also been added by the bolting of the stainless steel horizontal strut brackets to the fuselage stabilizer rather than riveting them.

For those looking to install floats on their Excalibur float mounting kits are now available for the Puddle Jumper and Shark standard and amphib floats.
